The topic of this Bachelor thesis is International trade in military material of the Czech Republic. At the beginning the legal regulation of the export of these products and their classification is described. The work then deals with the historical signifi-cance of the arms industry in the world, but also in the Czech Republic. It is not only about its role, but also focuses on various situations, that have affected the demand and production of this type of goods. The work also mentions important companies in this sector, both and the world and in the Czech Republic. An essential part of the whole work is analysis of the international trade of the Czech Republic selected products be-longs under military material, which will be performed using indicators of import, export, sales, balance, trade balance index and trade coverage index. The comparative advantage is shown graphically using the Lafay index. With these indicators, the Czech Republic will be represented as an exporter that has been active on foreign mar-kets in recent years.
Success Factors of the British Arms Industry in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s and 1990s

Bachelor thesis Success Factors of the British Arms Industry in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s and 1990s deals with two tranches of the giant arms trade known as Al-Yamamah, whose memorandum of understanding was signed in the 1980s. From a methodological point of view, the thesis could be considered a case study that analyzes key contracts over a given period of time. It is divided into three main chapters, each representing one factor examined. The thesis tries to answer whether the established hypotheses - that the factors of success were trust, corruption and a higher degree of interconnection between the private and public spheres - are correct. Text first describes relations between the two countries since the First World War until normalization of relations in 1963 after the Suez crisis and first major arms contracts in the 1960s and 1970s. Thesis mentions the situation after Operation Desert Shield, when ongoing contracts were in jeopardy, and also covers the ethical side of arms trades. Text deals with the foundation of corrupt practices and, consequently, with corruption in the Al-Yamamah trade itself. The aim is to show how important was a phenomenon of arms during a very short period of time from an economic point of view. The individual chapters are discussed the effects of the most important events of the First Republic to develop defense industry and the connection between the Ministry of National Defense and the Czechoslovak arms companies. Particular attention is paid to the issue of arms export and I try to determine a degree of mutual interaction of arms export and the national economy. And especially after it began the full show of the new threat of global conflict and raised the question of whether to prefer a bigger reserve of weapons, ammunition and military equipment in view of losses of foreigner exchange , or vice versa.
New institutionalism and the development of armaments cooperation within the European Union. The case Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis was to find the answers on question how the situation, when the institutionalisation of cooperation among the Member States in the field of armament policy is taking the place, but some of its actor - in the present case Czech Republic - are not respecting the existing rules, is explained by the new institutionalism, one of the middle range theories of European Integration. The defence industries of the Member States of the EU went through deep transformation process in the 1990's in order to be able to meet the government requirements for the military equipment for its armed forces. Suitable military equipment of the European armies is one of the prerequisites for the success of military missions, which take place either within NATO or the European Security and Defence policy. The rise of European cooperation among Member States led to the creation of several organizations, such an as OCCAR or European Defence Agency. The latter is considered by the Member States as an important move on the way towards the creation of European Defence and Equipment Market. Analysis of Ethical and Anti-Corruption Agenda in Defense Companies in the Czech Republic

International studies concerning the implementation of ethical and anti-corruption agenda suggest, that defence companies from Czech Republic do not live up to same standards as a global ones. Goal of the thesis is to verify, whether This hypothesis is true for other Czech Defence companies too. The theoretical part summarises the modern historical period of the evolution of the defence industry in the Czech Republic and analyse main anti-corruption institutions and legal documents. The last two chapters carry out analysis of a state of anti-corruption agenda implemented in a group of Czech defence companies and a practical examples of its importance in a four case studies about main corruption cases in the Czech Republic. The result shows, that Czech companies are at the same level as a global average, but there are serious deficiencies in mechanisms concerning anti-corruption measures.
Czechoslovak Arms Industry During the Normalization Period and the Influence of Cold War

The main subject of this diploma thesis is analysis of the czechoslovak arms industry during the normalization period. The study gives complete information about the facts, that had most vital influence on the main goals setting , giving arm industry its course and all the consequences of the economic development in the seventies - eighties. It is dedicated mainly to the management system, structure and dynamics of armaments, depending on the cold war development. As Czechoslovakia was included to the soviet sphere of influence, part of the thesis is dedicated to the integration into coalition economic and military political structures. Arms material export to the developed countries is represented by the analysis of international relations with Libia.
Analysis of Czechoslovak arms industry in the 30s of the 20th century

This thesis deals with the issue of armament in the interwar Czechoslovak Republic, particularly in the thirties. This period was characterized by the economic crisis and the subsequent boom of the armament. During this short period, Czechoslovakia became one of the largest producers and exporters of arms. Individual chapters describe approximated methods of financing arms production and the impact of related government spending on the national economy. The thesis continues by monitoring the development of the arms industry until the dissolution of the Republic in 1938 and describing the structure of the defense industry and the most important Czechoslovak arms factories, which included Škoda Works and Zbrojovka Brno. The threat of Nazi Germany forced yearly increase of military expenditures, accelerated modernization of the Czechoslovak army, which started the boom of the armament. One chapter is also devoted to arms exports, its relevance and impact on the overall trade balance.

It discuss its position by means of its historic background, its religious beliefs, its economic situation, the monetary aspects and its inner politic situation. The main attention is focused on its relations with the United States of America, particularly on economic ties, petrodollar policy and on the Iranian nuclear program threat. It also pays attention to the context of oil importance in the Middle East and to the Israeli foreign policy.

The master thesis "Economical and trade aspects of defense industry" is aimed at analyzing the relationship between defense suppliers and a government. The thesis describes the conditions under which the market is inefficient and causes of government failures. The important principle is the one of Pareto efficiency, which serves as a efficiency benchmark of economic allocation. The thesis has utilized theoretical methods to analyze individual aspects of international arms industry - both economic and non-economic.
Analysis of the production and export of the artillery weapons of the Skoda Works in the years 1918-1938

This thesis deals with the analysis of the production and export of artillery weapons in interwar Czechoslovakia. Skoda become a major armory during the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, and maintained its position even during the interwar period. During this period occured a series of political and economic events that affected arms production. It is therefore one of the main aims of this work to analyze their influence and impact on the production of artillery weapons in Pilsen. Production and export were often subject to political relations of Czechoslovakia. From an economic perspective, the paper focuses on the profitability of individual stores, both in terms of domestic and foreign orders. Can not ignore the more detailed analysis of the export of the artillery weapons and trade relations because export played important role for the company for most of the interwar period.
